CM orders construction of dignified bus shelters in Punjab

LAHORE, Nov 29 (APP): The Punjab government has decided to construct 1,362 modern, durable and aesthetically designed bus shelters in 19 districts to ensure a dignified and comfortable travel experience for citizens. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, during a meeting, approved the design of the new shelters and directed the authorities concerned to complete the project within 45 to 60 days.
The CM noted that work on 588 bus shelters has commenced across various districts, while tenders for an additional 774 shelters have already been issued. She said that elderly citizens, women and families should not be left to wait in harsh weather conditions, adding that the initiative reflects her government’s commitment to passenger welfare.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that, for the first time, Punjab’s districts are entering a transformative phase in public transport infrastructure. She highlighted that the modern shelters will not only provide convenience to commuters but also enhance the visual appeal of cities.
