LAYYAH, Feb 24 (APP):Restoration work on the historic tomb of Colonel Ross at the Gora Cemetery has been started after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took notice of its deteriorating condition.
Following the Chief Minister’s notice of a media report, Deputy Commissioner Layyah Asif Ali ordered immediate steps to restore the tomb.
According to a spokesperson for the district administration, Deputy Director Development Shahid Rehman, along with Ishaq Kheirani and Ali Abbas, visited the cemetery to review the ongoing work. Officials said the tomb of Colonel Ross and other graves would be restored to their original condition.
They added that original construction material would be used to preserve the historic design and architectural integrity of the site.
The administration expressed hope that the restoration of Gora Cemetery would promote tourism in the area.
