LAYYAH, May 30 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday announced significant educational and developmental initiatives during her visit to Layyah, including the immediate commencement of Layyah Medical College’s construction and the allocation of Rs1.5 billion in funds for the University of Layyah.
Addressing a large gathering of students and citizens, the chief minister said scholarships have been increased to 50,000 and one lakh laptops will be distributed annually among eligible students. She pledged that no talented student in Punjab would be deprived of modern technology due to lack of resources.
Highlighting her emotional connection with Layyah, CM Maryam said the love she received from the youth of the city was unforgettable. “I want the sons and daughters of Layyah to know that they are very close to my heart,” she said. “I feel proud of you and I am committed to fulfilling all your educational aspirations.”
She said that the state must act like a mother and ensure that every promising student in Punjab receives full support. “You don’t need to thank me. It is your right, and you will continue to receive what is rightfully yours,” she added.
Referring to the recent national defense achievements, the CM congratulated the youth on Pakistan’s symbolic victory under “Bunyan-um-Marsoos,” which she described as a reminder of national unity and strength. “When the entire nation becomes a solid wall of unity, no one can defeat Pakistan,” she said.
She also emphasized the need to differentiate between May 28, May 9, and May 10 in Pakistan’s history. “May 28 marks the day when Pakistan became a nuclear power. On May 9, an attack was launched against the state. On May 10, Pakistan displayed its strength again.”
Maryam Nawaz strongly criticized those involved in vandalism during the May 9 incidents, stating that those who burned uniforms attacked the dignity of the nation. “Those who mislead the youth are not sincere with them. Today, many of those misled youths are behind bars, unable to afford legal aid,” she said.
Praising the role of the administration, CM Maryam invited Deputy Commissioner Amira Bidar to the stage and lauded her performance as a role model for young women. “Our female DC has outperformed even her male counterparts,” she added.
She also assured the audience that basic facilities will be provided in 50,000 schools across Punjab and reaffirmed that every effort will be made to equip the youth with the tools they need to succeed.
Concluding her address with nationalistic fervor, she said, “Long live Pakistan. Quaid-e-Azam said no power can undo Pakistan.”
