CM launches mobile police station vans equipped with modern facilities

LAHORE, Sep 30 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif formally launched mobile police station vans equipped with modern facilities and technology to provide police services to citizens at their doorstep, here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that 33 mobile police stations had been made functional in different districts of Punjab, including six Pink Mobile Police Stations dedicated to women-related matters. She said the initiative was aimed at bringing policing services to the doorstep of the people with dignity and respect and reducing the gap between the police and the public.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the mobile police stations would also help save citizens’ time and travelling expenses by reaching far-flung areas.
The CM inspected a mobile police station van and observed its working. She also interacted with the staff deployed in the van and inquired from the Senior Station Assistant and female public guide about the procedure for providing different services to citizens.
The CM said the Pink Mobile Police Stations had specially designated female staff to facilitate women. She said dedicated female staff would be available to deal with sensitive matters including harassment, violence and abuse against women and children.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the initiative reflected the government’s commitment to providing public services through modern technology and making policing facilities more accessible to citizens.
Home Secretary Ahmad Javed Qazi briefed the CM about the mobile police station project. He said each mobile police station van would have an in-charge sub-inspector, field supervisor, Senior Station Assistant, male and female constables and other staff. He said the vans would visit universities and girls’ colleges according to a schedule, while they would also be dispatched to different areas on the basis of data received through Police Emergency 15 calls.
The home secretary said each mobile police station would provide 14 different types of police-related services, including online FIR applications and e-tagging, missing reports, criminal record checks and tenant registration. He said facilities for registration of domestic and shop employees, police verification and character certificate verification would also be available at the mobile police stations.
The vans would also provide facilities for issuance of learner driving licences, driving licences, renewal and duplicate licences as well as international driving licences, he added. He said the schedule for the arrival of mobile police station vans in different areas would be publicised through social media and other communication channels, while announcements would also be made through mosques in the relevant areas before the arrival of a van.
The mobile police stations would operate under a specially constituted team in accordance with prescribed government SOPs, he added.
The home secretary said a sub-inspector would serve as the dedicated in-charge of each mobile unit, while the concerned SHO and beat officer would remain present in the field to supervise operations. He said a Senior Station Assistant would manage all IT operations, digital databases and online data entries, while a male and a female constable would perform duties as public guides to facilitate citizens.
Citizens could submit applications for registration of FIRs for immediate legal action, and an online e-tag would be issued against the application, he said, adding that FIRs would be registered in accordance with the instructions of Special Initiative Police Stations (SIPS).
The home secretary said reports regarding loss of CNICs, cards, chequebooks and other documents could also be lodged and obtained immediately at the mobile police stations. He added that tenant registration, registration of private employees and verification of criminal records would also be carried out through the facility.
