CM launches apprenticeship act 2021 at TEVTA Secretariat

LAHORE, Jul 27 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Tuesday formally introduced the Apprenticeship Act 2021 at the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Secretariat to provide training to youth in the industrial sector.

The act would provide on-job training to the youth and the certification would be conducted by TEVTA.

The CM also planted a sapling at TEVTA Secretariat and inspected the blue pottery display centre.

The CM said the provincial government had formulated the first skill policy, which would be presented before the cabinet for approval soon. The past governments ignored TEVTA, while the PTI-led government gave three billion rupees for different TEVTA programmes. He said Skill Punjab Portal had also been designed to provide jobs to the skilled youth.

The CM announced establishment of the first skill Technology Park over an area of 120 kanals of land at the TEVTA secretariat, adding that 220,000 students were being trained in 403 TEVTA institutions every year. Punjab’s first skill mapping project was successfully moving forward, in collaboration with the urban unit, he added.

Meanwhile, more than 100,000 youth had been given free skill education under the CM Hunarmand Programme to provide employment to needy youth.

The CM said new technical universities were being set up in the province. An international standard engineering university would be established in Sialkot with an amount of Rs 17 billion and the government would extend full support to the TEVTA institutions, he added.
The CM congratulated the successful graduates of the Hunarmand Nojawan Programme and appreciated their skills.

Ali Suleman Siddique said TEVTA would establish 17 centres of excellence with the technical support of the Asian Development Bank. Pakistan’s first electric car would also be developed at TEVTA. Around 37 courses were being held in 140 TEVTA institutions under the CPT&A and all institutions would be brought under the CPT&A within the next two years, he added.

Secretary Industries Wasif Khursheed and others were also present.
