LAHORE, Oct 19 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan has entered a new era of space technology as its first hyperspectral satellite (HS-1) has successfully reached space with the cooperation of China.
In a media statement, she said, “A major milestone in Pakistan’s space program has been achieved with the successful launch of HS-1 from China.” The CM congratulated Pakistani scientists and the technical team on this remarkable success, terming it an important step towards Pakistan’s self-reliance in space technology.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the hyperspectral satellite marks a significant breakthrough in Pakistan’s space program, as it will enable detailed analysis of land, vegetation, and water resources in urban and rural areas. The satellite is capable of capturing highly accurate images across hundreds of light bands, which will revolutionize agricultural planning and environmental monitoring.
She added that the satellite will facilitate precise monitoring of crops, soil health, and water quality, while also helping track deforestation, pollution, and glacier melting. Moreover, it will assist in identifying geographical risks related to projects under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
