LAHORE, Apr 20 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that Chinese language
had gained significant importance in the global landscape and was one of the six official
languages of the United Nations.
In her message on International Chinese Language Day, she said that nearly 1.25 billion
people around the world speak Chinese, adding that China’s remarkable development
serves as a guiding example for the world. She lauded China’s role in promoting global
peace, stability, and economic development.
The chief minister extended greetings to the Chinese people on the occasion and said
that language plays a vital role in strengthening people-to-people connections. She noted
that China’s political, diplomatic, and economic significance was universally acknowledged
and emphasized the importance of awareness of the Chinese language.
The CM said that closer engagement with the Chinese language could further strengthen
Pakistan-China relations. Highlighting practical steps, she added that Punjab Police personnel
deployed for the security of Chinese nationals were also being trained in the Chinese language.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that proficiency in Chinese was essential for benefiting from China’s
vast market, adding that learning the language not only helps understand Chinese culture
but also promotes stronger relations between the peoples of both countries.
