PESHAWAR, Nov 06 (APP):A high-level meeting of the Communications and Works Department was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Peshawar on Thursday, where important decisions were made regarding development projects in the merged districts.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi directed the relevant authorities to complete the land acquisition process for Tehsil and District Complexes in the merged districts within one month. He further instructed that the construction work on these complexes should begin in December.
During the meeting, the chief minister sought detailed information about the funds allocated for the reconstruction of flood-affected areas.
He directed that all development projects should be categorized according to their stipulated timelines, with special focus on projects nearing completion. He emphasized that such projects should be provided with full funding to ensure their inauguration on priority basis.
The chief minister made it clear that no compromise would be tolerated on the quality of development projects. He instructed the departmental officers to accelerate the pace of ongoing projects and increase field visits to ensure timely execution.
During the briefing, it was revealed that the federal government had pledged Rs. 100 billion annually for the development of the merged districts. However, only Rs. 158 billion have been received over the past seven years, significantly affecting the development work in the region.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Communications and Works Department who assured the chief minister of their full cooperation in implementing the directives.
