CM commends administration, police over peaceful Ashura arrangements

LAHORE, Jun 26 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has congratulated “Team Punjab” for ensuring

the peaceful, dignified and well-organized observance of Muharram-ul-Haram across

the province.She said the success reflected the dedication and coordinated efforts of all departments

despite extreme weather conditions.

In a message posted on X on Friday, the CM expressed gratitude that, like last year, Muharram had concluded peacefully and in an orderly manner. She extended heartfelt appreciation to the entire Team Punjab for the successful conduct of Majalis and mourning processions. She commended provincial ministers, MPAs, district administrations, Punjab Police, law enforcement agencies, Rescue 1122, Suthra Punjab teams, the Health Department and Local Government personnel for working tirelessly day and night to discharge their responsibilities.

CM Maryam Nawaz said the arrangements made to facilitate mourners during the intense heat were exemplary. She highlighted the establishment of cold-water stalls throughout procession routes, the sprinkling of rose water, and the use of smog guns to spray water, which provided considerable relief to participants.

She also praised Suthra Punjab teams for maintaining exemplary cleanliness along the routes of processions and at Majalis venues, saying their efforts had set a new benchmark in public service.

The CM said the spirit of coordination and teamwork among all departments was a matter of pride. Paying tribute to Punjab Police, she said officers and personnel remained on duty throughout the holy days despite the scorching heat and ensured complete security for mourners without regard to the harsh weather. She said the peaceful observance of Ashura was made possible through the professionalism, dedication and round-the-clock efforts of the police force.
