CM celebrates Sindhi Culture Day, says World Culture Festival Hosted 1,000 Artists from 142 countries

KARACHI, Dec 07 (APP): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, addressing a grand ceremony at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi on Sunday, said he was proud that Karachi had successfully hosted more than 1,000 artists from 142 countries during the 39-day World Culture Festival, calling it an “unprecedented cultural achievement” for Sindh and Pakistan.
The ceremony coincided with Sindhi Culture Day, making the event a powerful celebration of both global artistic diversity and the rich cultural heritage of Sindh.
The Chief Minister, who was the chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi (ACPKHI) for what he termed “a historic and remarkable accomplishment in Pakistan’s cultural landscape.”
“Karachi has opened its arms to the world, welcoming over a thousand artists from 142 countries. This is not just an event-it is a milestone that highlights Sindh’s enduring spirit of peace, tolerance, and hospitality,” the CM said in his address.
Shah noted that the conclusion of the World Culture Festival on the very day Sindhi Culture Day was being celebrated was a “delightful coincidence,” adding that the union of global art with Sindh’s own cultural expressions made the day truly memorable.
He highlighted Sindh’s centuries-old tradition of producing renowned poets, writers, painters, and musicians-naming Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Sheikh Ayaz, A.R. Nagori, Musarrat Mirza, Muhammad Jumman, and Abida Parveen as icons whose work represents the land’s message of peace and love.
“Sindh has always spoken the universal language of peace and harmony. The performances at this festival echoed the same message. Art unites us, culture heals us, and creativity brings humanity together,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister praised the Arts Council’s leadership for achieving what many thought impossible.
The event was attended by provincial ministers, diplomats, ambassadors, consul generals, senior government officials, artists, cultural delegations, and members of the media.
Earlier, the ceremony featured a red-carpet reception for the chief guest, recitation of the Holy Quran, the national anthem, a showreel of the festival.
The Chief Minister thanked all foreign missions, international artists, and local performers for making the festival a global success, and reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to promoting cultural activities across the province.
