CM Bugti orders feasibility report for Pasni Fish Harbour restoration

QUETTA, Mar 03 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister (CM), Mir Sarfraz Bugti, reaffirmed the Balochistan government’s commitment that efforts will continue to take concrete and sustainable steps to promote coastal development, boost the fisheries sector, and strengthen the province’s marine economy.
A high-level meeting chaired by CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti was held in Quetta on Tuesday to review the restoration and operationalization of the Pasni Fish Harbour, with a focus on modernizing the fisheries sector and ensuring the harbor’s full functionality.
The session was attended by Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman, Member of the Provincial Assembly from Gwadar; Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan; Additional Chief Secretary (Development & Planning) Zahid Saleem; Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqaat; Secretary Fisheries Tariq Qamar; and other senior officials from relevant departments.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the current condition of Pasni Fish Harbour, its challenges, and proposed strategies for rehabilitation. Sarfraz Bugti directed authorities to prepare a comprehensive feasibility report on the harbor’s restoration and submit it by May this year to enable timely execution.
Expressing strong displeasure over illegal trawling, Bugti issued clear directives to concerned agencies to protect fishermen’s rights and take indiscriminate action against unlawful practices. He underscored that safeguarding marine resources and protecting the economic interests of local fishermen remain top priorities for the provincial government.
Sarfraz Bugti noted that the revival of Pasni Fish Harbour would not only strengthen the local economy but also create new employment opportunities, directly benefiting residents of Gwadar and adjoining coastal areas. He instructed departments to ensure transparency, professional expertise, and adherence to timelines in all measures.
