CM Balochistan reaffirms commitment to dignified repatriation of Afghan refugees

QUETTA, Sep 24 (APP):Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti met with Afghanistan’s Acting Consul General, Maulvi Muhammad Habib Nasir, to discuss the ongoing repatriation of Afghan refugees from the province. The meeting focused on ensuring a humane, respectful, and well-coordinated return process.
Chief Minister Bugti said that the provincial government is actively implementing the national policy on the departure of foreign refugees.
He assured the Consul General that all possible assistance is being provided to Afghan refugees returning home, with special attention to the needs of the elderly, women, and children.
“Our traditions are rooted in respect for humanity and mutual brotherhood,” Sarfraz Bugti said. “We consider Afghan women as our mothers and sisters, and with this spirit, we have strictly instructed our administration to ensure no individual faces hardship during repatriation.”
He also noted that the provincial government is in regular contact with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to ensure the process is carried out with empathy and international coordination.
To facilitate efficient management, senior official Muhammad Faridoon has been appointed as the focal person for the repatriation process. His responsibilities include ensuring the provision of necessary facilities and resolving any administrative issues that may arise.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti concluded added that the gradual and dignified return of Afghan refugees serves the mutual interests of both Pakistan and Afghanistan, strengthening ties between the two brotherly nations.
The meeting was also attended by Member of the Provincial Assembly Engineer Zamarak Khan Achakzai and civil society representative Alauddin Khilji.
