QUETTA, Jun 12 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti in a meeting with Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Thursday discussed key developments in the province’s railway infrastructure, particularly the proposed Sariab-Kuchlak shuttle train service in Quetta.
During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the plan to launch a commuter train service from Sariab Station in Quetta to Kuchlak. The project is aimed at improving public transport in and around the provincial capital, offering better travel facilities to residents.
Railway officials briefed the Chief Minister on the technical and operational aspects of the proposed shuttle service. The 32-kilometer railway track, which connects Quetta to Kuchlak, is being considered for revitalization and adaptation to support the shuttle service.
As per the briefing, the proposed project will include five stations: Sariab, Quetta, Sheikh Manda, Baleli, and Kuchlak. The estimated cost of the project has been placed at Rs. 283 million.
Federal Minister Hanif Abbasi also announced that a world-class football ground will be constructed in Quetta with the assistance of Pakistan Railways, reflecting the federal government’s broader commitment to social development in Balochistan.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that the project is being seriously considered for implementation. He added that the shuttle service would not only provide reliable transportation to the people of Quetta and surrounding areas but also help ease the growing traffic congestion in the city.
CM Balochisatan said “we aim to provide essential public facilities to our citizens by expanding railway services in Balochistan. The shuttle service project is viable and will offer significant travel facilities to local residents,” said CM Bugti.
Both sides expressed their commitment to ensuring timely execution of the project in coordination with all stakeholders.
