CM Afridi orders inquiry over children’s removal from Zamung Kor

PESHAWAR, Jan 04 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Sunday ordered an immediate inquiry into the removal of children from Zamung Kor, a model institute established for orphaned and underprivileged children.
The chief minister paid a surprise visit to the institute, where he met the children and administration and issued on-the-spot directives. He instructed the authorities to ensure the provision of hygiene kits, installation of cameras in classrooms and immediate recruitment of required teaching staff.
Afridi also approved the establishment of a complaint cell for children and announced that the provincial government would bear the fees of students enrolled in private colleges. He directed the digitalization of Zamung Kor’s accounts and stipend payment systems, provision of transport facilities and allocation of a special quota for children under the ETEA merit scholarship program.
During the visit, the chief minister inspected various sections of the institute, including the girls’ campus and reviewed the quality of food being provided.
He emphasized that the care and protection of these children is the government’s constitutional, moral and humanitarian responsibility, which he will personally oversee.
