All traffic officers and personnel were given a special briefing by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Traffic Ghazi Sohail Shehzad and DSP Traffic Azmat Hayat, emphasizing professional conduct, patience and courteous interaction with citizens during duty.
The officers were instructed to ensure strict road discipline, including lane discipline, adherence to stop lines and compliance with one-way traffic rules. They were also directed to take special measures against unnecessary or illegal use of high-beam lights at night to prevent accidents.
Under the plan, public transport operators have been instructed to pick up and drop passengers only at designated stops, with legal action for violations. Motorcyclists must wear helmets at all times, with heavy fines imposed on offenders.
The traffic officers were instructed to greet citizens politely, beginning checks with “Assalam-o-Alaikum Janab,” and clearly explaining the reason for stopping in a respectful manner. Misconduct or inappropriate behaviour towards women, elderly citizens and children will not be tolerated.
Chief Traffic Officer Murree Imran Razaq said the safety of the public remained the top priority of the City Traffic Police. He added that strict enforcement of traffic laws would continue, while courteous and professional behaviour with citizens was the duty of every officer.
He urged the citizens to comply fully with traffic regulations, avoid unnecessary use of high-beam lights, wear helmets, and play their part in protecting their own lives and those of others.
