MULTAN, Jun 18 (APP):In a remarkable sign of social progress, men in South Punjab are increasingly found encouraging women to run electric bikes, marking a powerful shift in traditional mindsets.
Asghar Majeed, principal of a private school in Multan, shared his experience, saying, “My daughter goes to university on her own bike. It gives me peace of mind knowing she is safe and doesn’t rely on anyone.”
Sana, a graduate from Bahauddin Zakariya University and now a schoolteacher, uses a two-wheeler daily. “I started during my university days,” she said. “I feel completely comfortable now. I owe this confidence to my family as they never held me back.”
The shift is not just within homes, but visible on streets of Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, where women on electric bikes are becoming an increasingly common and welcomed sight.
The new trend is helping women overcome transport hurdles that once kept them from education and employment.
Momina, a visiting lecturer, calls her electric bike a blessing. “It saves time,” she said. “I even go to the market with my mother to buy household items. It’s become a part of my daily life.”
The community response has also been welcoming. Citizens like Salman, Asim, and Amjid praised the trend, calling it a smart and safe solution for women.
“It’s a change for the better,” Salman noted. “It means progress, not just for women, but for society as a whole.”
The electric bikes provide an affordable and eco-friendly option especially for students and working women.
And now, with family support, the wheels of change are turning faster.
The social trend in South Punjab is not just about mobility but it’s about trust, equality, and hope.
