RAWALPINDI, Dec 02 (APP): The Christian community of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday called on the authorities to ensure foolproof security arrangements for Christmas programmes and religious gatherings across the twin cities.

Babu Sajid Amin Khokhar, Special Representative for Interfaith Harmony to Archbishop of Rawalpindi and Islamabad Dr Joseph Arshad and a member of the Peace Committee, said the community had consistently played a constructive role in the country’s development. With the start of December, he noted, churches across the twin cities had already begun Christmas services, special prayers and related activities.

He urged the Rawalpindi Police and the district administration to put in place comprehensive security measures, as in previous years, so that the Christian citizens could observe their religious rituals in a peaceful and secure environment.

Khokhar expressed confidence that the administration and police would maintain their cooperation and provide a safe atmosphere for the community throughout the festive season.
