CHINIOT, Nov 6 (APP):In a bid to curb traffic accidents, Chiniot traffic police on Thursday launched operations under the instructions of District Police Officer Abdullah Ahmed. In the last 24 hours, 349 vehicles were fined over Rs 3 lakh for violating traffic rules.
According to the details, the traffic police issued 109 challans for overloading, 16 for negligence, and 11 for driving without a license. Five underage drivers and 19 motorcycle riders without helmets were also penalized. Action was taken against 9 vehicles for violating line and lane, and 116 for other traffic infractions.
On this occasion, DPO Abdullah Ahmed, while exclusively talking to APP, stated that practical steps are being taken to ensure citizens’ safety. Alongside enforcement, an awareness campaign is educating people about traffic rules. The Traffic Education Unit is visiting educational institutions to promote safe driving habits.
Ahmed urged citizens to obtain driving licenses, proof of being law-abiding. A special campaign is underway to facilitate license preparation. By following traffic rules, citizens can avoid accidents and ensure their safety, he further added.
