Chiniot Police place Ashura security on high alert, deploy over 2,000 personnel

CHINIOT, Jun 26 (APP):Chiniot Police have implemented stringent security measures across the district for Ashura, placing security on high alert and finalizing comprehensive arrangements for the peaceful conduct of 92 processions and 61 religious gatherings (Majalis), in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

According to the police spokesperson, more than 2,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to perform security duties during Muharram. A four-tier security plan has been enforced for all processions and Majalis, while senior supervisory officers are personally overseeing the implementation of the security arrangements across the district.

District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif while exclusively talking to APP on Friday, said walk-through gates have been installed along the routes of major processions, with participants undergoing screening through metal detectors, physical searches, and other security measures. He added that continuous surveillance is being maintained through CCTV and drone cameras, while all processions and gatherings are being monitored from the Safe City Chiniot Control Room and the district administration’s central control room.

The DPO said the government-issued code of conduct for Muharram is being strictly enforced to ensure law and order. He appealed to citizens to respect one another’s religious beliefs and extend full cooperation to police personnel performing security duties, emphasizing that public support is vital to maintaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the district
