MULTAN, Jul 17 (APP):Consul General of China in Lahore Zhao Shirin visited Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan (MNSUAM) and held an interactive session with faculty members who are graduates of leading Chinese universities.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali briefed the visiting dignitary on the university’s ongoing and completed research and development projects, many of which are jointly or solely funded by the Chinese government. He highlighted the significant achievements made in cotton and wheat genetic sequencing in collaboration with Chinese partner institutions, which aim to address the growing challenges of climate change.
Dr. Zulfiqar praised the contributions of Pakistani scholars trained in China, noting their vital role in teaching and research at MNSUAM.
Expressing appreciation for the university’s efforts, Mr. Zhao Shirin thanked the Vice Chancellor for organizing the session and expressed strong interest in expanding future cooperation. He emphasized the potential for faculty exchange programs and increased scholarship opportunities for MNSUAM students to pursue higher studies in China.
He lauded MNSUAM as a leading agricultural institution in South Punjab and expressed commitment to further strengthening joint research and development initiatives of mutual interest.
At the conclusion of the visit, Zhao planted a Kinnow sapling in the university’s administrative lawn as a symbol of friendship and cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Mr. Hashim Rabbani, Secretary Agriculture South Punjab Sarfraz Magassi, as well as deans and directors of various departments.
