MULTAN, Jul 17 (APP):Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren attended a ceremony, which was held at Romanza DHA under ‘Zero Out-of-School Children’ campaign in south Punjab, here on Thursday.
Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Fauad Hashim Rabbani welcomed the consul general. The ceremony featured a scouts salute, national anthems of Pakistan and China, and cultural performances highlighting Pakistan-China friendship. Students presented colourful tableaus celebrating the strong bond between the two nations.
The Chinese consul general announced sponsorship for uniforms, shoes, school bags, and stationery for 1,300 newly-enrolled children. He pledged full support to south Punjab’s school enrollment drive and expressed commitment to regional development. Zhao termed Pak-China friendship “deeper than the ocean, sweeter than honey, and higher than K-2″.
Fauad Rabbani thanked the Chinese envoy and praised China’s growing partnership in south Punjab. He said the campaign achieved great results in selected union councils of Multan, Bahawalpur, and Layyah. In the next phase, 5,000 children were enrolled across all union councils (UCs) of Layyah district. Today, with China’s support, 1,300 children received educational kits. South Punjab still has 4.7 million out-of-school children, Rabbani said. He reaffirmed commitment to ensure “every child goes to school”.
As a gesture of goodwill, Rabbani presented the consul general with a traditional Multani ajrak
and a shield.
