Chinese CG visits Rafi Peer Theatre, attends Peeru Cafe relaunch ceremony

LAHORE, Oct 09 (APP):Chinese Consul General (CG) in Lahore, Zhao Shiren, visited the Rafi Peer Theatre Village here on Thursday and attended the relaunch ceremony of Peeru Cafe as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Consul General Zhao lauded the Rafi Peer Group for its commendable role in promoting Pakistani culture, art and music. He said that cultural exchange serves as a vital bridge in strengthening the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.
Zhao Shiren said the Chinese Consulate is working in collaboration with several universities in Lahore and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to promote Chinese language education, under which thousands of individuals have already received training.
He noted that the bilateral relationship between China and Pakistan is not limited to the governmental level, but is being further strengthened through people-to-people contacts and cultural initiatives. He said events such as the Peeru Cafe relaunch foster deeper understanding and cooperation between the two nations.
Referring to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the CG said the project has entered its second phase, which focuses on sectors including culture, language promotion and business-to-business collaboration. He said all relevant forums under CPEC Phase-II have been activated to encourage further investment in Pakistan and enhance bilateral cooperation.
He also mentioned his recent visit to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), where he appreciated the professionalism of the APP team and assured the Chinese Consulate’s full cooperation in strengthening media ties.
Earlier, the Rafi Peer Theatre administration briefed the Consul General Zhao Shiren during his tour of various sections of the theatre village, where he took keen interest in traditional puppetry, sculpture and visual arts exhibits.
The ceremony also featured a Sufi qawwali performance that highlighted the spiritual and cultural ambiance of the newly relaunched Peeru Cafe. The performance was widely appreciated by the audience.
The event was attended by founding members of the Rafi Peer Group and prominent personalities from the artist community. The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of the spirit of Pak-China friendship.
