China’s 76th national day celebrated at UCP, 21 students receive scholarships

LAHORE, Oct 21 (APP):University of Central Punjab (UCP) celebrated the 76th National Day of the People’s Republic of China with a grand ceremony, featuring cultural performances and scholarship awards to 21 outstanding students.
The event, held at UCP’s main campus on Tuesday, was attended by Consul General of China in Lahore, Mr. Zhao Shiren, as the chief guest, along with over 40 members of the Chinese community, faculty, and students.
During the ceremony, Chinese Consulate Scholarships 2025 were awarded to 21 students in recognition of their academic excellence and leadership potential. The Consul General announced that the scholarship fund would be increased to Rs 2 million from next year to support more deserving students.
In his address, Mr. Zhao Shiren commended UCP’s efforts in fostering academic and cultural collaboration between China and Pakistan. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to promoting educational exchange and strengthening people-to-people relations between the two countries.
Earlier, Dean of UCP, Professor Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt, welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude to the Chinese Consulate for its continued support in advancing educational cooperation. He highlighted China’s investment in higher education and cultural understanding through scholarship programs.
The ceremony also featured short documentaries highlighting Chinese culture, scientific achievements, and bilateral cooperation. It concluded with a group photograph and presentation of commemorative gifts, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Hammad Naveed.
