LAHORE, Jul 21 (APP):Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channer called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, here on Monday.
Matters pertaining to the prevailing political situation and the progress of ongoing development projects, particularly in South Punjab, were discussed during the meeting.
The Deputy Speaker lauded the Chief Minister’s leadership and expressed gratitude for the construction and rehabilitation of road infrastructure across the province. He specifically appreciated the establishment of a Burn Center in Bahawalpur, acknowledging it as a much-needed facility for the region.
Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channer also praised the government’s initiatives such as field hospitals, clinics on wheels, and the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic Project, terming them innovative steps toward improving healthcare accessibility across Punjab. He described the Punjab Development Program, which envisions equal development of all cities, as a game-changing initiative.
The Deputy Speaker commended the Chief Minister for launching the air ambulance service, setting up field hospitals, and taking decisive action against encroachments in various parts of the province.
In view of the growing healthcare needs of the region, both sides agreed in principle to establish a Children’s Hospital in Bahawalpur, to be located near the Civil Hospital. The CM directed the preparation of a comprehensive project plan for the hospital and assured full support for its early execution.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the development projects of Punjab are our foremost priority. The Punjab government is committed to providing essential services and basic facilities to the people of South Punjab at their doorstep.
The Deputy Speaker acknowledged that under the dynamic leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab is firmly set on the path of real and inclusive development. He praised the Chief Minister’s people-centric approach and commitment to delivering tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
