SUKKUR, Oct 29 (APP):Chairman Sukkur District Council, Syed Kumail Hyder Shah on Wednesday visited Rohri City Maternity Home, where he inspected various departments and reviewed medical facilities.
Speaking to the media, Syed Kumail Hyder Shah said that providing timely and quality medical facilities to the people of Rohri was their top priority. The maternity home is being equipped with modern facilities, and all arrangements are being made for cesarean operations, he said.
The Chairman stated that 3,500 to 4,000 patients were being treated daily at the maternity home, with 24-hour medical facilities available. A special unit for cesarean cases, solar system and ambulance service will be provided soon, he said and added that the tender for the construction of a state-of-the-art emergency block at the Civil Hospital has been completed. MRI, CT scan, and X-ray machines have been activated, and absent doctors have been issued show-cause notices by the Health Minister, he told.
The Chairman also announced plans to reactivate three closed Jamal Shah stations and establish nine new ones to provide better train facilities to the public. The first phase will include a “Free Jamal Shah Train” as a gift to the people.
He emphasized that the district council was taking practical steps to provide better travel facilities to the public and was working to maintain the beauty and cleanliness of Rohri city by relocating buffalo sheds to a cattle colony.
The Chairman announced plans to promote tourism in the hilly areas and start development projects at temples and historical sites. Strict action will be taken against those involved in illegal activities on the hills without leases. Committees have been formed at the UC and ward levels to prevent dengue and malaria, ensuring regular spraying, awareness campaigns, and protective measures.
Shah further said that the Sindh government was recruiting doctors, and their first target was to ensure the attendance of all doctors who were not fulfilling their responsibilities. A crackdown is being launched against quack doctors to provide safe and quality treatment to the public, he added.
The Chairman stated that work on the Sukkur Economic Zone was progressing rapidly, creating new opportunities for employment, industry and trade. This year will be celebrated with a new spirit of public service, health, education, and development, aiming to create a strong, prosperous, and facilitated Sukkur, he expressed.
