LAHORE, Dec 24 (APP): The University of Management and Technology (UMT), in collaboration with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore, on Wednesday organised an Anti-Bribery Awareness Seminar, with Chairman NAB Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed attending as the chief guest.
Director General NAB Lahore Mirza Faran Baig, former provincial minister and President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Rector UMT Dr Asif Raza, Chief Advisor Lt Gen (retd) Javed Hasan, senior NAB officers, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
In his address, Chairman NAB Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed underscored that strong character, self-accountability and ethical values are the cornerstones of a corruption-free society. He said that NAB has further strengthened transparent and impartial accountability mechanisms, leading to improved institutional performance and enhanced public confidence. He also appreciated UMT’s initiatives aimed at character-building among students.
Speaking on the occasion, DG NAB Lahore Mirza Faran Baig said that NAB Lahore is actively implementing preventive initiatives, including awareness seminars, engagement with educational institutions and an effective complaint redressal mechanism, which have yielded encouraging results. He said that raising public awareness against corruption remains NAB’s top priority and acknowledged the constructive role of academic institutions like UMT in this national effort.
Addressing the seminar, President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad said that youth are the future of the nation and their moral and ethical development is a pressing need of the time. He emphasised that integrity and transparency form the foundation of strong national leadership and added that the complete eradication of bribery and corruption is essential for sustainable national development. He also appreciated NAB’s role in promoting the rule of law and ensuring effective accountability.
At the conclusion of the seminar, President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad presented commemorative souvenirs to chairman NAB and DG NAB Lahore.
