KARACHI, Jun 23 (APP):The robbery of Rs 300 million from a cash van transporting money from a bank has been solved within a few days and the principal accused has been arrested while Rs 200 million have been recovered.
Addressing a joint press conference at the office of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) West on Tuesday, DIG West, Irfan Baloch and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central, Dr. Imran Khan stated that on June 12, a cash van of a private company was robbed while transporting money from a bank within the jurisdiction of the Joharabad police station here.
The team arrested the principal accused, identified as Muhammad Ali alias Ali Langra, and recovered Rs 200 million out of the total looted money of Rs 300 million, the van and a car used in the crime.
The suspect originally belongs to Swat and has been residing in Karachi for a long time, leading the robbery operations.
The other suspects involved in the heist belong to Parachinar, District Kurram, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and have fled with the remaining stolen money.
During the investigation, Wajid, son of Mir Lala, the chief crew member of the security van, was found to be involved in the incident.
Operations are currently underway to arrest other suspects and recover the rest of the looted money.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Sindh, Javed Alam Odho appreciated the police team for their dedication and professionalism in resolving the cash van robbery case and announced Rs 5,00,000 cash reward as well as commendation certificates for the police team
