Cargo plane goes missing near Karachi

KARACHI, Jul 08 (APP):A cargo aircraft went missing approximately 155 nautical miles west of Karachi after losing contact with air traffic control late Tuesday night, according to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).
A PAA spokesperson said the aircraft reported a malfunction in its navigation system while en route from Sharjah to Karachi.
The Area Control Centre (ACC) immediately provided guidance to the crew after receiving the distress report.
The spokesperson said the Rescue Coordination Centre had been activated to coordinate search and rescue operations, while efforts were underway to locate the missing aircraft.
According to aviation sources, the missing aircraft is a 27-year-old Boeing 737 cargo plane operated by a Pakistani cargo company. Contact with the aircraft was reportedly lost at 9:32 p.m. during the flight.
