Cabinet Committee on Law&Order arrives in Bahawalpur to review arrangements for Moharram

BAHAWALPUR, Jul 10 (APP):Cabinet Committee on Law and Order arrived in Bahawalpur to review the security arrangements for Moharram-ul-Haram. Provincial Minister and Cabinet Committee Chairman Khwaja Salman Rafique chaired a meeting in Bahawalpur to review the arrangements for Moharram-ul-Haram processions and Majalis in Baha walpur.
Provincial Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Agriculture Minister Syed Aashiq Hussain Kirmani, and Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan were also present along with Secretary Interior Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Additional IG Southern Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, Additional IG CTD Wasim Sial. Members of the Provincial Assembly Dr. Rana Muhammad Tariq, Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood, Sardar Khalid Waran, and Shoaib Awaisi, Deputy Commissioners, DPOs, and representatives of relevant departments attended the briefing.
Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Nadir Chatha and Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Rai Babar Saeed briefed the meeting about arrangements. They told that all the necessary arrangements for all 1409 Majalis and 514 processions in Bahawalpur Division have been completed. As many as 164 scholars and speakers have been barred from entering districts of Bahawalpur division while 124 have been banned from speeches.
In addition, 165 individuals have been added to the Fourth Schedule in Bahawalpur. The meeting was further briefed that 17,000 police personnel have been deployed for security of processions and Majalis. Furthermore, 15 companies of Army and Rangers will be on security duty from 7 to 10 Moharram. Khwaja Salman Rafique said that to make Moharram-ul-Haram peaceful, we all have to play our roles and special attention is being paid to security and other arrangements throughout Punjab.
 “Even after Ashura, we need to remain focused on establishing peace and security”, Khwaja Salman Rafique added. He told that water is being supplied to participants by Punjab government on routes of processions. He directed concerned officers to ensure effective implementation of SOPs issued by the Interior Department.
