Bugti expresses concern on Sinjadi coal mine accident, directs to arrest accused

QUETTA, Jan 14 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Mir Sarfraz Bugti has expressed serious concern regarding the recent coal mine accidents and dissatisfaction with the performance of the Mines Department inspection teams.
He has directed the arrest of those responsible for the Sinjadi mine incident.
He shared these views while presiding over an important meeting of the Mines and Minerals Department and representatives of mine owners on Tuesday.
The meeting discussed the accidents that occurred during mining in the province and their causes in detail.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Finance and Mineral Development Mir Shoaib Noshirwani, Opposition Leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Dr. Ibadullah Khan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Balochistan Babar Khan, Additional Secretary Chief Minister Secretariat Muhammad Faridoon, Special Secretary Mines Muhammad Farooq, DG PDMA Jahanzeb Khan and other concerned officials.
Addressing the meeting, the CM said that it is unacceptable that inspectors would not fulfill their responsibilities under the guise of law and order situation issues. He expressed his anger and said that employees who could not fulfill their duties should resign.
He issued instructions to suspend the inspector and hand over the investigation process of the incident to the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT).
He directed the Mines and Minerals Department to adopt modern mining modules and safety measures used in the world.
The CM stressed the need to ensure regular inspection of mines and equip the Rescue and Training Wing with modern technology. He gave directives to ensure immediate payment of compensation to the deceased workers and ensure registration of all mine workers with the relevant authority.
 Directing the Mines Department to prepare a comprehensive proposal, he said that the government would provide the required resources to ensure the prevention of accidents.
The CM made it clear that no incident of negligence would be tolerated in the future.
Once the investigation report of the recent incidents is received, those responsible for negligence will be brought to justice and the lease will be cancelled, he mentioned.
In the meeting, the concerned authorities assured the CM that the causes of accidents and safety measures would be implemented expeditiously.
