British High Commission delegation, PRA Chairman discuss tax reforms

LAHORE, Nov 20 (APP):A delegation from British High Commission called on Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Supra to discuss economic development at provincial level and reforms in the tax collection system.
They also discussed the challenges faced in making sales tax laws coherent and enforceable in Punjab, according to PRA spokesperson here Thursday.
In addition, suggestions for increasing tax collection and further improving inter-provincial coordination were also reviewed. The three-member delegation from the British High Commission appreciated the reform agenda of Punjab Revenue Authority.
Recommendations were presented on a joint working plan on laws related to several sectors including banking, telecommunications, IT and insurance. It was agreed to form a joint working platform consisting of technical experts and PRA officers to increase tax collection.
PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal said that the laws related to non-deposit of tax collected from consumers in the government treasury will be further tightened. IT-based reforms are being implemented to further improve field intelligence.
