BAHAWALPUR, Oct 27 (APP):Dr. Muhammad Iftikhar Alam, Director of BINO Cancer Hospital, emphasized the critical importance of early cancer diagnosis in increasing the chances of successful treatment. He highlighted that raising public awareness about breast cancer is a collective social responsibility. Speaking on the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is observed globally every October, Dr. Alam noted that under the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, 21 hospitals across the country are conducting awareness activities throughout the month.
Dr. Alam made these remarks while addressing participants of an awareness walk organized by BINO Cancer Hospital in Bahawalpur. The walk, aimed at promoting the importance of prevention, early detection, and timely treatment of cancer, saw participation from doctors, nurses, and hospital staff, who carried placards and banners to raise awareness.
During his address, Dr. Alam briefed participants about the hospital’s performance and the advanced medical facilities available to patients. He pointed out that while breast cancer is a life-threatening disease, it can be effectively treated through awareness and timely diagnosis. He also shared that BINO Cancer Hospital has been providing treatment facilities for the past 26 years, and in the last two years, state-of-the-art medical equipment has been installed to improve patient care.
At the conclusion of the walk, informational pamphlets were distributed to participants, offering guidance on cancer prevention, maintaining a balanced diet, staying physically active, and the significance of regular screening tests. In addition to the walk, a free medical camp was set up at the hospital, offering women complimentary check-ups. During the camp, medical experts informed the participants that breast cancer, when diagnosed early, is a curable disease.
