SARGODHA, Oct 22 (APP):The Punjab Government has formally constituted the Board of Governors (BoG) for the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology (NSIC), Sargodha.
The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department issued an official notification in this regard on Wednesday, following approval from the provincial cabinet during its 29th meeting on October 6, 2025.
According to the notification, Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Major General (R) Dr. Azhar Mahmood Kayani, has been appointed as the Chairman of the board. The BoG has been constituted for a tenure of three years.
Other members of the board include Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, Dr. Shujaat Ali, Ms. Parveen Qadir Agha, and Colonel (R) Iftikhar-ul-Hassan.
The Secretaries of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Finance, Planning and Development, and Law and Parliamentary Affairs, along with the Dean and Hospital Director of NSIC, would also be members of the board.
According to the health department, the BoG would devise a comprehensive strategy to improve the institute’s administrative, academic, and treatment affairs.
A spokesman said the move aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to modernize the health sector. He added that this step would further improve the provision of modern facilities, better treatment, and world-class services to heart patients.
