LAHORE, Nov 27 (APP):The management of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has reviewed ways to further strengthen support for vulnerable families by improving nutrition outcomes across Punjab.
The discussion took place on Thursday during the second meeting of the Provincial Steering Committee held under the SOPRAN initiative.
The meeting was chaired by Director General BISP Punjab, Haider Murtaza, who assessed the progress made so far and emphasized the need for stronger coordination among all stakeholders to address real challenges faced by women and children.
The DG appreciated the contributions of development partners, particularly Nutrition International (NI) and GIZ, for ensuring smooth implementation of the pilot phase of the SOPRAN project in Tehsil Jaranwala, Faisalabad. He noted that collaborative efforts were vital for achieving sustainable nutrition improvements in the province.
Participants also held an in-depth discussion on the findings of formative research and the endline survey.
Officials said that these insights would guide evidence-based planning and help shape the next phase of the initiative.
The session was attended by Director Central Zone Punjab Ms Waqar-un-Nisa, Deputy Director NSER Punjab Ms Roheena Iqbal, and representatives from the Health, Education and Food Departments, Directorate of Nutrition, GIZ, WFP Punjab, Nutrition International and CERP.
