MUZAFFARGARH, Dec 07 (APP): A team of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) conducted a raid in the Sinanwan area of Kot Addu and arrested members of a gang involved in illegal withdrawals from beneficiaries’ accounts.
According to BISP sources, a joint team led by Assistant Directors Malik Ali Zafar, Jehanzeb Kharral and Saad Tariq, along with Field Supervisors Hassan Abbas and Muhammad Irfan, raided a shop and caught a gang of 5–6 people using Bank Alfalah (Lahore-registered) BVS devices to withdraw money from BISP beneficiaries’ accounts.
Two suspects were arrested on the spot, while four others fled. The gang had withdrawn a total of Rs 259,500 from 17 beneficiaries’ accounts.
The case has been handed over to FIA Cyber Crime Circle Multan. The arrested suspects were also transferred to FIA and an application for registration of FIR has been submitted.
