KARACHI, Jan 30 (APP):Over five thousand individuals belonging to Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) registered families have been enrolled for skill training programs aimed at developing market oriented vocational expertise leading to better livelihood opportunities and self-sufficiency.
The Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program, Senator Rubina Khalid was briefed on Friday, during a visit of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Human Resource Research and Development Board (BBSHRRDB) Karachi, said a statement issued here.
Briefing the BISP Chairperson about ongoing initiatives and training programs of the board, Chairman BBSHRRDB Tameezuddin Kherro and Secretary Munawar Ali Mithani informed that registration of over 5000 persons belonging to the families registered with BISP has been completed and they would be imparted skill training in different vocational trades. The objective of the program is to provide livelihood opportunities to the deserving families and make them self-sufficient, they added.
Senator Rubina Khalid, at the occasion, said that skill development was the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who considered the skill as an asset. She said that demand for skilled human resources is very high around the world and to capitalize from the global opportunities we have to impart standard skill development training to youth and women in the required fields.
At international and national levels, vast employment opportunities are available for hospitality, residential and health care professionals, the BISP chairperson noted and stressed on ensuring skill development in such fields and inclusion of relevant internationally recognized certifications in training programs.
The meeting discussed in detail the provision of skill training and employment opportunities in various sectors for deserving women and their family members under the Benazir Hunarmand Program, as well as further promoting mutual collaboration and cooperation between the two institutions.
