Chairperson BISP, Senator Rubina Khalid, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and officially inaugurated the center. Provincial Minister for Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khaliq-ur-Rehman, and WHO representative Dr. Luo Dapeng were also present on the occasion.
While speaking to the media, Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Senator Rubina Khalid said that BISP’s Nashonuma Programme is a comprehensive and effective initiative for promoting the health and nutrition of mothers and children. She explained that under this programme, quality health and nutrition-related services are provided to mothers and children from birth up to the age of two years, because the first two years of a child’s life are extremely important and decisive for physical, mental, and cognitive development.
On this occasion, Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid met the women present at the center, listened to their concerns, and gathered information about the facilities being provided to combat malnutrition.
According to the administration of Bacha Khan Medical Complex, the Nutrition Stabilization Center consists of 10 beds, where underweight and malnourished children will be provided with modern medical facilities. Specialist medical staff will be available round the clock to ensure timely and effective care of newborns.
The administration further stated that the establishment of this center will improve the treatment of malnourished children and lead to a significant reduction in newborn mortality. They added that this is the second Nutrition Stabilization Center in Swabi, which is being regarded as a major achievement in the health sector for the area.
