BISP allocation surge welcomed as pro-poor move

MULTAN, Jun 10 (APP):Young Pakistanis Organization (YPO) Chairman Naeem Iqbal Naeem lauded the government’s decision to increase the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) budget by 21% and termed  it as a “visionary step” towards poverty alleviation.
The enhanced allocation increased funding from Rs 592 billion to Rs 716 billion, extending financial assistance to 10 million vulnerable families. In a statement, Naeem commended the move, calling it a “much-needed initiative that will serve as a lifeline for millions struggling with economic hardships.”
“This decision reflects the government’s commitment to social protection,” he said.
Naeem emphasized that the YPO always advocated for stronger welfare programs and expressed satisfaction over the government’s proactive approach. However, he also urged robust monitoring to prevent leakages and delays.
“While the increased budget is commendable, effective implementation is crucial to ensure benefits reach deserving families,” he stated. He further reiterated YPO’s support for policies empowering youth and reducing poverty, calling the BISP expansion a “critical step towards an equitable and prosperous country.
