RAWALPINDI, Dec 16 (APP):PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is set to lead Punjab, with a series of high-profile visits and conventions planned for January, as the party builds momentum ahead of future elections.
This was remarked by the Punjab Governor, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan while speaking to the media after addressing a Christmas celebration at the Governor’s Annexe in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
He described Bilawal’s recent three-day visit to Lahore as “historic,” revealing that several prominent political figures joined the PPP during the trip.
The governor announced that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would return to Lahore next month, followed by major public gatherings in Faisalabad and Sialkot, where a number of former MNAs and MPAs would formally join the party. Additional conventions for the PSF and minority communities will also be held at Governor House in Lahore, he said.
He Emphasized that PPP has deep roots in Punjab, a province where the party was originally founded. He asserted that the party is rapidly regaining ground in the province and is set to deliver a strong performance in the next general elections. He confidently said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will emerge as Pakistan’s next Prime Minister.
To a question, the governor criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for being on the ‘wrong track’ and urged its leadership to embrace dialogue.
Referencing historical democratic developments, he highlighted that iconic leaders like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Nelson Mandela achieved success through dialogues rather than confrontation. He advised PTI to refrain from criticizing the state institutions and come on the table.
