RAWALPINDI, Jan 13 (APP):Provincial Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Bilal Akbar Khan presided over a meeting at Commissioner’s Office to review the performance of government departments. Public representatives and divisional heads participated in the meeting in which DC Hasan Waqar Cheema and RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa gave a briefing on the divisional performance.
Speaking on the occasion, Bilal Akbar Khan said that Chief Minister Punjab has entrusted him with the responsibilities of Rawlpindi Division for coordination between stakeholders. He said that joint efforts of parliamentarians and administrative officers wouod lead to public relief.
” We will try to bring regional policies that would be made with mutual consultation keeping in mind the local problems and needs”, he said and added that the most important step is the socio-economic registry. “Public representatives should help the needy people in their constituencies to register to benefit from relief programs like the Ramadan package etc. He said that the solar panel project in Energy sector is also about to launch, so public representatives should inform the people about its registration process.
“Chief Minister added 32 new field hospitals in the health care system in 100 days from where 30 to 35 thousand people are getting free treatment in Punjab every day”, he said.
He went on saying that E-buses have been ordered to solve the transport problems of Rawalpindi. A total of 78 e-buses will be operated on six routes including Taxila Wah Cantt. IJ Principal Road to Chongi No. 26 and Daulata to Rawalpindi. Bilal Akbar Khan said that our target is to transform 150 bus stands into model bus stands in one year.
During the briefing by RPO Rawalpindi, it was informed that the crime rate in Rawalpindi has reduced significantly. According to the latest data, there has been a 24% reduction in property dispute cases in Rawalpindi, 29% reduction in robbery cases and 52% reduction in robery cases. Similarly, the cases of car theft have reduced by 27%.
Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema, while giving a briefing on the progress made on the special initiatives of the Chief Minister in Rawalpindi district, said that 553 students have benefited from the Chief Minister Internship Program so far. Similarly, 101 confirmed cases in Punjab Dhee Rani Program, 192658 registrations have been completed under Socio-Economic Registry Program so far. 3350 tasks have been completed while 2437 are in progress in Maryam Ki Dastak. In phase one of school outsourcing, 256 schools have been outsourced. Minister of Transport and Mass Transit directed that special attention should be paid to the special initiatives of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
