HYDERABAD, Oct 15 (APP): Besant Hall cultural Centre organized a special event on Wednesday to commemorate the international day of Rural women In which the role, struggle and services of rural women were lauded.
Commissioner Hyderabad Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, Mehtab Akbar Rashidi, Noorul Huda Shah, Krishna Kumari, Dr. Rizwana Ansari, cultural attaché of Iran Raza Parsa, Shamsul Haq Memon, Amar Sindhu, Haseen Musarat and other dignitaries participated in the event.
Empowering women through education and arts is the need of the hour so that they can stand against social injustices.
Former senator and human rights activist Krishna Kumari, talking about her journey from rural background to Parliament, said that if the role of rural women is stopped, the wheel of the economy could also halt.
She said that our lives depend on the hard work of these women.
Mehtab Akbar Rashidi spoke in detail about the social problems faced by rural women and said that education is the most important means of empowering them.
She said that rural women are playing an important role in the society with their art and hard work, regardless of the behavior of urban classes.
Mehtab Rashidi lauded the efforts of Endowment Fund Trust (EFT), which provided an opportunity to the women of villages to show their handicrafts and art.
She praised the talented women of Thar and said that the products made by their hands are our cultural identity which needs to be further promoted
Expressing her regret, Mehtab said that women are treated harshly our society.
The hands of these women are tired with hard work, picking cotton is not an easy task but they do it with patience and joy
She also pointed out the exploitative attitudes of men and feudal lords and said that now is the time to recognize the unparalleled services of these women and give them equal status.
At the end of the speech, Mehtab Rashidi said that the Rural women are naturally rich in art and talent, so it is our moral duty to appreciate their art, support them and introduce their work at the national and international level.
There is a need to show the true image of rural women.
These women are connected to the soil, their soul is so connected to the earth that they cannot be separated.
Dr. Rizwana Ansari, talking about the health problems faced by women in rural areas, said that maternity and mental health issues need immediate attention
She said that death rate of Pakistani mothers to Malaysia and said that there is a dire need for improvement.
Commissioner Hyderabad Fayaz Hussian Abassi in his speech said that Besant Hall has achieved a big accomplishment by a highly informative event.
He said that he was fully aware about the life style of rural women as he also belongs to rural area of Sindh.
Commissioner said that rural women not only do their work diligently but also tolerate the anger and annoyance of men which was a example.
About resilience, Commissioner said that father’s love could be selfish but mother’s love is selfless.
At the end of the event, he presented a poem based on the hard work and sacrifices of women by the famous poetess Fatima Hassan Bharari, while the director of Basant Hall,Sobia Ali expressed her gratitude and said that the institution will continue to play its role for the promotion of cultural harmony and gender equality.
