PESHAWAR, Nov 26 (APP):The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) here on Wednesday issued its completed report on the attack at the Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters, detailing key findings from the incident.
According to the report, the attack involved 20 kilograms of explosive material used by the terrorists. It further states that the explosive material in the suicide vests was divided into front and back compartments to maximize destruction. The fragments recovered from the vests indicate that the blast could have caused damage within a 30-meter radius.
The BDU confirmed that the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber and no evidence of remote-controlled detonation was found. Evidence of eight hand grenades was also recovered from the scene, along with a two-foot-long piece of prima cord.
The report further notes that 2-millimeter-sized ball bearings were found at the site, consistent with the type typically used to increase the lethality of such attacks. A two-foot-long wire, cut from the middle, was also recovered. Additional evidence has been collected and sent for laboratory analysis.
The BDU concluded that the attack was carried out under planning and coordination, but timely and effective response by security personnel prevented a large-scale tragedy.
