PESHAWAR, Dec 24 (APP): Regional DIG Bannu, Sajjad Khan has said that Bannu police made great sacrifices while combating terrorism during 2025, facing a total of 135 terrorist attacks in the region.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he stated that 27 police personnel were martyred and 53 terrorists were killed during these attacks.
He added that Bannu police achieved major successes against militants and earned a prominent position across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to their bravery despite operating under severe security challenges.
DIG Sajjad Khan said that during 2025, police conducted 168 intelligence-based operations, resulting in the arrest of 105 terrorists and the killing of 65 others. Successful joint operations were carried out in areas including Huwed, Miryan, Barganto and Dawood Shah.
He said effective strategies were adopted by involving the public and local elders, with the formation of community-based security groups (Chugha parties). Joint operations by the public, police and security forces yielded significant successes.
The DIG revealed that terrorists possess drone technology and carried out around 20 drone strikes. However, after the deployment of anti-drone guns, more than 300 potential attacks were thwarted and five terrorist drones were destroyed.
He added that drones were operated from areas such as Ghora Baka Khel and Sarai Durga, while the militants’ claimed anti-drone gun is likely a dummy device.
