FAISALABAD, Oct 15 (APP): The Civil Lines police have arrested a bank cashier on charge of embezzling Rs. 5 million from a cash consignment during transfer operations between State Bank of Pakistan and Bank of Punjab.
Police spokesperson Tariq Jutt said here on Wednesday that accused Mazhar Ali Khan was serving as a cashier at Bank of Punjab.
He was tasked for collecting Rs.600 million from State Bank of Pakistan but he allegedly misappropriated a bundle of Rs.5,000 notes worth Rs.5 million from the total amount.
Incharge Lorry Adda police post ASI Muhammad Bilal after receiving complaint apprehended the accused and recovered Rs.3.5 million from his possession.
The police also registered a case against the accused cashier for tracing out and recovering the remaining amount, he added.
