Bangladeshi journalists’ delegation visits PU, explore academic & media collaboration

LAHORE, Dec 02 (APP): A delegation of prominent journalists from Bangladesh visited Punjab University on Tuesday and held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Ali to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral academic cooperation, cultural harmony, and collaboration in media studies.
The delegation included Hasan Sharif, Anindo Mustafa, Muhammad Basheer Ahmed, Mehdi Hasan Palash, Noor-ul-Mustafa Qazi, Muhammad Ubaid Ahmed, Yasir Arafat and Safat Kabir.
Senior faculty member of the Institute of Communication & Media Studies Prof. Dr. Ayesha Ashfaq welcomed the delegation and highlighted that Punjab University has always provided an open and friendly environment for international students, particularly those from Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali said Pakistan and Bangladesh are not only leading countries in the region but also share cultural, linguistic, and religious bonds that bring the two nations closer. He added that a significant number of Bangladeshi students are enrolled at PU and are benefitting from the university’s academic standards and culturally inclusive environment. He added that Pakistan serves as a “second home” for these students, where they are welcomed with respect and warmth.
The Bangladeshi journalists praised the hospitality of Punjab University and expressed their delight at visiting Lahore. They said the people of Lahore are exceptionally warm-hearted and its cuisine is globally admired for its rich taste and tradition.
Later, the delegation visited the historic School of Communication Studies where they took a keen interest in various stalls set up by students at the Pitch Fest’ 25 organised by the Department of Public Relations & Advertising. Students showcased their public relations projects, creative campaigns and advertising ideas, which were highly appreciated by the visiting journalists. The delegation also toured the department’s library, broadcasting house and PUFM 104.6, where they were briefed on broadcasting practices, radio production and modern media technologies.
The visitors lauded Punjab University’s infrastructure, research-friendly environment and students’ creative potential, expressing hope that academic cooperation between institutions of Pakistan and Bangladesh would grow further.
Faculty members termed the visit a positive step that would help strengthen academic and journalistic linkages across the region.
