Balochistan to launch ‘Peoples Minority Card’ for socio-economic uplift of minorities

QUETTA, Oct 28 (APP):The Balochistan government has announced the plan to launch the Peoples Minority Card, a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing the socio-economic well-being of the province’s minority communities.
The decision was taken during a high-level consultative meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, where key reforms were approved to advance minority self-reliance through targeted programs in education, healthcare, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Chief Minister Bugti emphasized that the Peoples Minority Card reflects the government’s commitment to fostering interfaith harmony and equal opportunity across all religious communities.
The card will streamline access to essential services in education, health, business, and employment for minority citizens.
The chief minister has given approval to an initial allocation of Rs 500 million, has been set aside for the current fiscal year to support the initiative.
Sarfraz Bugti said that the fund will be expanded to Rs 1 billion in the next fiscal year, extending benefits to a broader segment of the population.
CM Bugti outlined that special training courses, financial assistance, and self-employment schemes will be initiated for minority youth to ensure they become economically stable and contribute fully to the province’s development.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti reiterated that the final framework of the program would be developed in consultation with minority leaders, religious representatives, and civil society organizations to ensure it addresses the real needs of the communities it intends to serve.
He said that a modern digital monitoring system will be deployed to ensure transparent management and equitable distribution of resources under the Minority Endowment Fund, guaranteeing the accurate use and fair distribution of resources.
He concluded by affirming that the initiative is a tangible step toward promoting tolerance, unity, and social justice. “The prosperity of our minority communities is integral to Balochistan’s collective development,” Sarfraz Bugti added. “We are committed to mobilizing every resource to achieve this goal.”
The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Minority Affairs Sanjay Kumar, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Babar Khan, and other senior officials.
