QUETTA, Oct 13 (APP):Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, the Balochistan government has achieved a landmark milestone in education reform by reactivating 3,144 out of 3,862 non-functional schools, opening doors to learning for more than 81,000 children across the province.
According to the Education Department, this marks an unprecedented achievement, with 81 of previously closed schools restored—a feat never accomplished in the province’s history.
Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani emphasized that the future of Balochistan is deeply tied to education, adding “It is our full effort to ensure that no child in the province remains deprived of education.”
Her dynamic leadership has ushered in transformational reforms within the Education Department, breathing new life into the system and expanding access to quality education.
Official data highlights the critical role of large-scale teacher recruitment and redistribution, that 1,866 teachers have been appointed in the first phase under SBK and around 837 teachers appointed on contract basis in the second phase, additionally in third phase 86 teachers have be recruited.
As many as 290 schools made functional through reallocation of existing personnel.
The data revealed that 230 schools reopened, 10,076 new enrollments in Pishin, 7,394 new students enrolled in Khuzdar and around 6,529 students enrolled in Awaran.
Zhob and Naseerabad also saw significant improvements, overcoming long-standing educational neglect.
Officials describe this achievement as the foundation stone for long-term educational reform, aligned with Minister Raheela Durrani’s vision to bring education to every doorstep and empower every child to fulfill their dreams.
The next phase will focus on sustainability of reactivated schools, provision of basic facilities, and permanent availability of qualified teachers.
This initiative is being hailed as the largest educational restoration campaign in Balochistan’s history, marking a bold step toward a conscious, knowledgeable, and empowered province.
