QUETTA, May 29 (APP):The Balochistan government has decided to bring all polytechnic institutes, technology colleges, social welfare training centers, and small industries training institutions under the Department of Labour and Manpower. These institutions will be administratively transferred to B-TEVTA to ensure centralized and efficient management.
Additionally, the Board of Technical Education and the Trade Testing Board will also be brought under the operational control of B-TEVTA. This move is expected to streamline the governance and standardization of technical education and vocational training across the province.
A high-level meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti was held on Thursday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review and reform the affairs of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Authority (B-TEVTA).
The meeting was attended by Advisor on Labour and Manpower Sardar Ghulam Rasool Umrani, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development, Secretary Finance, Secretary Labour, Managing Director of B-TEVTA, and other senior officials.
Officials briefed the participants on the current structure and operations of B-TEVTA, highlighting areas for improvement and strategic integration.
Chief Minister Bugti directed that the necessary amendments to the legal framework be prepared and submitted for approval in the upcoming cabinet meeting. Emphasizing the need for integration, he stated, “Other provinces have already unified their technical education systems under a single authority. It is imperative for Balochistan to do the same to enhance coordination and performance.”
The reforms are part of the provincial government’s broader vision to strengthen technical and vocational education, boost skilled manpower, and support economic development in Balochistan.
