QUETTA, Oct 29 (APP): In a landmark move toward digital transformation, the Balochistan government has launched a new initiative enabling citizens to obtain vital documents including birth, marriage and death certificates through a mobile application.
The initiative stems from a formal agreement signed between the Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Department and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The signing ceremony, chaired by Secretary LGRD Abdul Rauf Baloch, was attended by Director General NADRA Naveed Jan Sahibzada and other senior officials.
Speaking at the event, Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch hailed the initiative as a major stride toward realizing the vision of Digital Pakistan.
“This modern facility will spare citizens the inconvenience of repeated visits to government offices,” he added, emphasizing the convenience and accessibility the app will bring to the public.
Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch underscored the government’s commitment to protecting children’s rights and ensuring their access to essential services from the outset of life.
He noted that the provincial government is actively promoting birth registration at the grassroots level through Basic Health Units (BHUs) and educational institutions. He also reiterated that timely birth registration is not only a legal obligation but a parental responsibility.
The Local Government Department, in collaboration with NADRA, is developing a fully integrated digital system to centralize citizen records and streamline data entry across departments.
Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch issued a strong appeal to parents to ensure timely registration of their children’s births, warning of the consequences of delay.
“Without birth registration, it is impossible to obtain a CNIC, enroll in school, access healthcare, claim inheritance, or establish a legal identity.”
He also directed key departments to support the initiative and the health department must maintain comprehensive records of births in government hospitals and BHUs.
The educational institutions required to compile and share student enrollment data with the relevant Union Councils.
Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch emphasized that timely birth registration lays the foundation for a child’s future, ensuring access to education, healthcare, inheritance, and legal identity. “It is a gateway to a safe, dignified, and empowered life,” he affirmed.
