KARACHI, Oct 23 (APP):Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar Monday said that the government hospitals in the province were providing free-of-cost medical treatment to every patient, no matter whether the patient belonged to other provinces, but the Gambat Hospital had some specialities for which they did charge.
This he said while talking to the Advisor to Caretaker CM Balochistan for Social Welfare and Special Education, Mrs Shania Khan who called on him here .
The advisor said that the Social Welfare Dept of Balochistan had an endowment fund from which the medical treatment of poor patients for deadly diseases was carried out.
The patients were referred to hospitals of Sindh such as Dow University Hospital and Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences but the treatment was costly, she said and urged to give subsidy to the patients.
The chief minister said that as far as the Down Hospital, Ojha was concerned it was the personal hospital of the university where subsidized rates were being charged.
Talking about the Gambat Hospital, Baqar said that it had a long list of patients for liver transplantation.
“Even then I am directing the health department to discuss the matter with both the hospitals for the welfare of poor patients from Balochistan,” he said and added Balochs were our brothers, and we would not disappoint them.
